Common Questions

What should I/We wear ?
I always recommend coordinating outfits by a complimentary color palette . Choose a soft, neutral or earthy color palette you love (think muted tones, pastels, or warm neutrals), and avoid loud patterns or logos. Comfort is key—especially for little ones! If it would be helpful to see some examples, check out the Style and Outfit Guides Board on my Pinterest page which has several for you to peruse through. I am also more than happy to provide a few personalized suggestions based on the type, setting, and season of your shoot.
How long does a typical session last?
Standard family sessions last about 45–60 minutes. That gives us plenty of time for candid moments, group shots, and individual portraits, without overwhelming anyone (especially kids!). I work at a relaxed pace so your session feels natural, not rushed. I also offer mini-shoots, which are 30 minutes in duration. The benefits of this option are affordability, convenience, and faster turnaround of your editing images. Regardless of which option you choose, I promise you will come away with dozens of beautiful images you will treasure for years to come.
Where will the session take place?
While I love photographing families in natural outdoor settings—like a quiet field or a local park—I’m always happy to choose a location that fits your family’s style and story. Whether it’s golden hour light, the comfort of your own home, or a spot that holds special meaning, I’ll suggest options with great lighting and a relaxed feel to make sure your session feels natural and personal. Here are some of my most favorite locations in and around North Georgia:
McDaniel Farm Park - Duluth, GA
Historic Entrance- 3251 McDaniel Road, Duluth, GA
Sims Lake Park - Suwanee, GA
Park Entrance - 4600 Suwanee Dam Road, Suwanee, GA
Gwinnett Environment and Heritage Center - Buford, GA
Park Entrance - 2020 Clean Water Drive, Buford
Little Mulberry Park
Auburn Entrance - 3855 Fence Road, Auburn
Dacula Entrance - 3900 Hog Mountain Road, Dacula
What should I/We do prior to my session?
Honestly, keep it simple: Get plenty of rest, bring snacks and a few toys for the kids if needed, and arrive with an open mind and relaxed spirit. I’ll guide you through every step of the way on shoot day—we’ll focus primarily on fun, candid, and connected moments rather than than stiff, static poses. Just show up as you are, relax, have fun and I’ll handle the rest!
